Helping biopharmaceutical companies turn data into better medicines
Plex Research was founded on the notion that more data should mean better medicines.  To accomplish that goal, we're making the world's scientific data findable, accessible, searchable, and transparent from a single location.

Douglas Selinger
Chief Executive Officer & Founder

As an early pioneer of microarray technology, Doug authored some of the first publications describing experimental and computational approaches for large scale transcriptional analyses. After completing his Ph.D. in George Church’s lab at Harvard, he joined the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research where his 14-year career spanned the entire drug discovery pipeline, including significant work in target ID/validation, high throughput screening, and preclinical safety.

In 2017, Doug founded Plex Research to develop a novel form of AI based on search engine algorithms. Plex’s unique platform has helped dozens of biotech and pharma companies accelerate their drug discovery pipelines by providing interpretable and actionable analyses of massive chemical biology and omics data sets.

Jed Gaetz
Principal Scientist

Prior to joining Plex Research, Jed worked in R&D at Sema4 (now GeneDX). As part of their Cancer and Pharma Knowledgebase team, Jed contributed to precision oncology reporting and clinical trial matching for thousands of patients and studied real world evidence for rare diseases. Jed received his PhD from Rockefeller University in cell biology under the mentorship of Tarun Kapoor, and then went on to complete a postdoc in the Dept. of Human Genetics at the University of Chicago.

Ehab Khalil
Principal Scientist

Ehab is a seasoned medicinal chemist with over 11 years of experience in drug discovery from several different biopharmaceutical companies, including 3-dimensional pharmaceuticals, Johnson and Johnson, and Celgene. Contributions from Ehab’s work in lead discovery and optimization have resulted in several clinical candidates in the areas of oncology (kinase inhibitors and IMiDs or cereblon binders), and antimicrobials. While at Celgene, he also had the opportunity to join the process chemistry team and contribute to synthesis optimization and scale-up of various development candidates. Since joining Plex Research, he has worked closely with the team to fully leverage the Plex platform, helping clients address some of their most challenging questions related to phenotypic screens, target deconvolution, and off-target activity determination. Ehab completed his Ph.D. at the University of Minnesota, a postdoctoral fellowship in bioorganic chemistry at the Rockefeller University, and a B.S. in Pharmacy at St. John’s University.

Oren Levy

Biology Consultant
Oren is a cell biologist and bioengineer. Prior to joining Plex as a biology consultant, Oren spent 3 years as Vice President of R&D for one of the largest privately held, multi-state medical cannabis companies in the U.S., leading discovery, advancement, and commercialization of proprietary cannabis-based therapies for regulated markets. Prior to that, he worked at the Wyss Institute at Harvard Medical School, leveraging Organ-on-Chip systems for human disease modeling and drug discovery. Earlier in his career, he served at a junior faculty position as an Instructor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and an Associate Bioengineer at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His biomedical engineering research was focused on development of engineered cell-based platforms and novel drug delivery systems towards discovery of cutting-edge therapies for the treatment of devastating diseases, including autoimmune, neuro-degenerative diseases and cancer.

Eleni Stylianou
Principal Scientist
Eleni is a molecular cell biologist with more than two decades of independent biomedical research experience. She was a Principal Investigator/ Assistant Professor at the Lerner Research Institute, Cleveland Clinic and before that a tenured Lecturer at the University of Nottingham Medical School (U.K.). Her research expertise is in complex disease mechanisms encompassing inflammatory gene regulation and epigenetics. After leaving academia, she founded her own consulting business offering bioinformatics analysis of omics data and biomedical expertise for drug discovery. Eleni trained in the U.K., completing her PhD in Biochemistry at the University of Wales and her postdoctoral research at the Strangeways Research Laboratory, University of Cambridge.
